Aug-. 2S, 1730, Norfolk being Grand Master, and in his<br />

absence Deputy Grand Master Blakerby, the Treasurer, in<br />

the chair, resolved, That the Committee of Charity shall<br />

have added to them twelve Masters of contributing Lodges;<br />

that the first twelve in the printed list, shall be succeeded by<br />

the next twelve, and so on: and that for dispatch any five of<br />

them shall be a quorum, p<strong>ro</strong>vided one of the five is a present<br />

Grand off<st<strong>ro</strong>ng>ice</st<strong>ro</strong>ng>r. Accordingly,<br />

The Committee of Charity met the Treasurer, Blakerby,<br />

:he first time, in the Mastership of Norfolk.<br />

On November 13, 1730. When they considered the<br />

petitions of some poor Brethren, whom they relieved, not<br />

exceeding three pounds to each petitioner: and adjourned,<br />

f<strong>ro</strong>m time to time, for supplying the distressed according to<br />

their powers; or else recommend them to the greater favor<br />

of the Grand Lodge.<br />

ART. 8. This committee had not all their powers at<br />

once:—For, at the Grand Lodge on Dec. 15, 1730, Norfolk<br />

being Grand Master, and in his absence, the Deputy Blakerby<br />

in the chair, it was ordained, That for dispatch, all com­<br />

plaints and informations about charity, shall be referred for<br />

t le future to the Committee of Charity ; and that they shall<br />

appoint a day for hearing the same, shall enter their p<strong>ro</strong>­<br />

ceedings in their own book, and .shall report their opinion to<br />

t le Grand Lodge.<br />

F<strong>ro</strong>m this time, the minutes of the Committee of Charity<br />

1. xve been read and considered at every Grand Lodge, ex-<br />

c ?pt on the Grand Feast day.<br />

ART. 9. At the Committee of Charity, March 16; 1730<br />

- 31, it was agreed, That no petition shall be read, if the<br />

p ititioner don't attend the committee in person; except in<br />

the cases of sickness, lameness, or imprisonment.<br />

ART. 10. At the Grand Lodge on May 14, 1731, upon<br />
