livered by him to the two Brethren of the Committee of Five,<br />

not off<st<strong>ro</strong>ng>ice</st<strong>ro</strong>ng>rs, each one io be kept by them respectively; and<br />

the Secretary to enter the account so signed and allowed in<br />

the Grand Master's book. And,<br />

The committee foreseeing that such a person, as if may be<br />

thought p<strong>ro</strong>per to nominate, f<strong>ro</strong>m time to time, to the off<st<strong>ro</strong>ng>ice</st<strong>ro</strong>ng><br />

of Treasurer upon this occasion, might, f<strong>ro</strong>m many causes,<br />

not always be able to attend the personal discharge of it:<br />

and judging it reasonable, that if he requires or wants the<br />

assistance of another, such assistant should have a suitable<br />

reward, which, as the Treasurer himself makes no p<strong>ro</strong>fit,<br />

cannot be expected he should be at the charge of:—There­<br />

fore they do further submit it as their opinion,<br />

That if the Treasurer when appointed, shall find it neces­<br />

sary to employ under him an assistant or clerk, he may be at<br />

liberty so to do; such clerk or assistant to be a B<strong>ro</strong>ther, and<br />

to have such allowance f<strong>ro</strong>m time to time, by way of pound­<br />

age, as the aforesaid Committee of Five shall think fit, out<br />

of the moneys passing th<strong>ro</strong>ugh the Treasurer's hands, not<br />

exceeding twelve pence in the pound, without the particular<br />

allowance and direction sf the Grand Lodge ; and this to be<br />

charged and allowed in the Treasurer's accounts.<br />

The committee think it necessary that every Treasurer,<br />

upon his appointment be desired to give the earliest general<br />

not<st<strong>ro</strong>ng>ice</st<strong>ro</strong>ng> he can, where he may be applied to, f<strong>ro</strong>m time to<br />

time, for the purposes of this charity, as need shall require.<br />

All which they submit to your judgment and direction.<br />
