ART. 4. Yet no Treasurer was found till at the Grand<br />

Lodge, in ample form, on June 24, 1727, Inchiquin, Grand<br />

Master, requested B<strong>ro</strong>ther Nathaniel Blakerby, Esq., to ac­<br />

cept of that off<st<strong>ro</strong>ng>ice</st<strong>ro</strong>ng>, which he very kindly undertook.<br />

Then also it was resolved, that the four Grand off<st<strong>ro</strong>ng>ice</st<strong>ro</strong>ng>rs, for<br />

the time being, together with B<strong>ro</strong>ther Martin Folkes, Francis<br />

Sorell, and George Payne, Esqrs.,asa Committee of Seven,<br />

should, upon due recommendations, dispose of the intended<br />

charity; and fresh copies of the report were sent to the<br />

Lodges.<br />

ART. 5. At last this good work of charity was begun at<br />

the Grand Lodge, on Nov. 25, 1729, Kingston being Grand<br />

Master, and, in his absence, Deputy Grand Master Blakerby,<br />

the Treasurer, in the chair; who, after a warm exhortation,<br />

ordered the Lodges to be called over a second time, when<br />

some off<st<strong>ro</strong>ng>ice</st<strong>ro</strong>ng>rs gave in the benevolence of their respective<br />

Lodges, for which they were thanked; and their charity<br />

being forthwith recorded, was put into the hands of the<br />

Treasurer, as an hopeful beginning: and other Lodges<br />

following the good example.<br />

ART^ 6. At the Grand Lodge in due form, on Dec. 27,<br />

1729, Deputy Grand Master Blakerby, the Treasurer, in the<br />

chair, had the honor to thank many off<st<strong>ro</strong>ng>ice</st<strong>ro</strong>ng>rs of Lodges, for<br />

bringing their liberal charity: when by a motion of B<strong>ro</strong>ther<br />

Thomas Batson, counselor at law, the Grand Lodge ordained,<br />

That every new Lodge, for their Constitution, shall pay two<br />

guineas towards this general charity of Masons.<br />

And ever since, the Lodges according to their ability,<br />

have, by their off<st<strong>ro</strong>ng>ice</st<strong>ro</strong>ng>rs, seni tjieir benevolence to every Grand<br />

Lodge, except on the Grand Feast day: and several dis­<br />

tressed B<strong>ro</strong>thers have been handsomely relieved.<br />

ART. 7, But the Committee of Seven being thought too<br />

few for this good work, the Grand Lodge, in due form, on
