ART. 3. That no Lodge shall ever make a Mason for a<br />

less sum than one guinea; and that guinea to be applied<br />

either to the private fund of the Lodge, or to the public<br />

charity, without deducting f<strong>ro</strong>m such deposit, any money<br />

towards the defraying the expense of the T r, &c. t<br />

under the forfeiture of that constitution. But this is not to<br />

extend to the making of Waiters, Serviters, or menial Ser­<br />

vants, who may be inst tuted by the Lodge they are to serve;<br />

p<strong>ro</strong>vided such making or institution be done without fee or<br />

reward.—(Sec Art. 8, below.)<br />

ART. 4. Every new B<strong>ro</strong>ther at his entry, is decently to<br />

clothe the Lodge, that is, all the Brethren present; and to<br />

deposit something for the relief of indigent and decayed<br />

Brethren, as the candidate shall think fit to bestow, over and<br />

above the small allowance that may be stated in the By-Laws<br />

of that particular Lodge: which charity shall be kept by<br />

the Cashier.*<br />

Also, the candidate shall solemnly p<strong>ro</strong>mise to submit to the<br />

Constitutions and other good usages that shall be intimated<br />

to him in time and place convenient.<br />

ART. 5. On April 25, 1723, every B<strong>ro</strong>ther concerned in<br />

making Masons clandestinely, shall not be allowed to visit<br />

any Lodge till he has made due submission, even though the<br />

B<strong>ro</strong>thers so made may be allowed.<br />

ART. 6. On February 19,1724, none who form a Stated<br />

Lodge without the Grand Master's leave, shall be admitted<br />

into regular Lodges, till they make submission and obtain<br />

grace.<br />

ART. 7. On Nov. 21, 1724, If any brethren form a<br />

Lodge without leave, and shall irregularly make new B<strong>ro</strong>th­<br />

ers, they shall not be admitted into any regular Lodge, no<br />

not as visitors, till they render good reason, or make due<br />

submission.<br />

* Only particular Lodges are not limited, but may take their own method<br />

for Charity.—N. R., Art. 7.
