St. John Baptist's Day, as the Grand Lodge shall think fit,<br />

by a new regulation ; having of late years met on St. John<br />

Baptist's Day:<br />

P<strong>ro</strong>vided the majority of the Grand Lodge, about three<br />

months before, shall agree that there shall be a Feast and a<br />

general Communication of all the Brethren: for if they are<br />

against it, others must forbear it at that time.—(See Grand<br />

Wardens, Art. 3.)<br />

But whether there shall be a Feast or not, for all the<br />

Brethren, yet the Grand Lodge must meet in some conveni­<br />

ent place on St. John's Day; or if it be a Sunday, then on<br />

the next day, in order to choose or recognize every year a<br />

new Grand Master, Deputy and Wardens.—(See Grand<br />

Master, Art. 1.)<br />

The annual Feast has been held on both the St. John's<br />

Days, as the Grand Master thought fit. And,<br />

On November 25, 1723, it was ordained, That one of the<br />

Quarterly Communications shall be held on St. John Evan'<br />

gelisVs day, and another on St. John Baptist's day, every<br />

year, whether there be a Feast or not, unless the Grand Mas­<br />

ter find it inconvenient for the good of the Craft, which is<br />

more to be regarded than days.<br />

But of late years, most of the eminent Brethren being out<br />

of town on both the St. John's days, the Grand Master has<br />

appointed the Feast on such a day as appeared most conve­<br />

nient to the Fraternity.<br />

On January 29, 1730-1, it was ordained, That no partic­<br />

ular Lodge shall have a separate Feast on the day of the<br />

General Feast.—(A*. K., Art. 21.)<br />

ART. 2. The Masters of Lodges shall appoint one ex­<br />

perienced and discreet B<strong>ro</strong>ther of his Lodge to compose a<br />

committee, consisting of one f<strong>ro</strong>m every Lodge, who shall<br />

meet in a convenient apartment to receive every person that
