APPENDIX Am<br />

ART. 6. That the Stewards Lodge shall have the pri-<br />

| vilege of sending a deputation of twelve to every Grand<br />

! Lodge, viz : the Master, two Wardens, and nine more ; and<br />

each of the twelve shall vote there ; and each of them that<br />

attends shall pay Half a C<strong>ro</strong>wn, towards the expense of the<br />

I Grand Lodge.<br />

ART. 7. That no B<strong>ro</strong>ther, who has not been a Steward,<br />

I shall wear the same sort of ap<strong>ro</strong>ns and ribbons.<br />

ART. 8. That each of the Twelve Deputies f<strong>ro</strong>m the<br />

I Stewards Lodge shall, in the Grand Lodge, wear a peculiar<br />

jewel suspended in the red ribbon; the pattern of which was<br />

then app<strong>ro</strong>ved.<br />

ART. 9. That the twelve Stewards of the current year<br />

shall always attend the Grand Lodge in their p<strong>ro</strong>per clothing<br />

and jewels, paying at the rate of four Lodges towards the<br />

| expense of the Communication; but they are not to vote,<br />

nor even to speak, except when desired, or else of what re­<br />

lates to the ensuing Feast only.<br />

OF CONSTITUTIONS.<br />

THE ANCIENT MANNER OF CONSTITUTING A LODGE.<br />

A new Lodge, for avoiding many irregularities, should be<br />

solemnly constituted by the Grand Master, with his Deputy<br />

and Wardens; or, in the Grand Master's absence, the De­<br />

puty acts for his worship; the Senior Grand Warden as<br />

Deputy, the Junior Grand Warden as the Senior, and a<br />

present Master of a Lodge as the Junior.<br />

Or if the Deputy is also absent, the Grand Mastsr may<br />

depute either of his Grand Wardens, who can appoint others<br />

to be Grand Off<st<strong>ro</strong>ng>ice</st<strong>ro</strong>ng>rs p<strong>ro</strong> tempore.<br />

The Lodge being opened, and the candidates, or the new<br />

Master and Wardens being yet among the Fellow-Crafts,<br />

the Grand Master shall ask his Deputy if he has examined
