And if it cannot be decided after dinner, the Grand Master<br />

must refer it to a special Committee, that shall quickly adjust<br />

it and make report to the next Grand Lodge ; that so b<strong>ro</strong>th­<br />

erly love may be preserved.<br />

To prevent any difference or disgust which may be feared<br />

to arise that day, that so no interruption may be given to the<br />

harmony and pleasure of the General Assembly and Grand<br />

. Feast.<br />

To consult about whatever concerns the decency and de­<br />

corum of the Grand Assembly, and to prevent ill manners,<br />

the Assembly being p<strong>ro</strong>miscuous, that is, of all sorts of Five<br />

This however was found so inconvenient and disconsonant<br />

with the intention of a day of mirth, that it was soon after,<br />

on Nov. 25, 1723, ordained, That there should be no petitions<br />

or appeals on the day of the General Assembly and Feast.<br />

ART. 6. The Grand Lodge must be formed before dinner.<br />

ART. 7. It was formerly the custom, after the Grand<br />

Master was p<strong>ro</strong>posed, for the Grand Master, the Deputy, the<br />

Grand Wardens, the Stewards, the Treasurer, the Secretary,<br />

the Clerks, and every other person, to withdraw and leave<br />

the Masters and Wardens of particular Lodges alone; in<br />

order to their amicable consulting about the election of a new<br />

Grand Master, or the continuing of the present another year;<br />

if the said Masters and Wardens had not met and done it<br />

the day before.<br />

And if they agreed by a majority to continue the present<br />

Grand Master, his Worship was called in; and alter thanks,<br />

was humbly desired to do the Fraternity the honor of ruling<br />

them another year. And after dinner, and not before, it<br />

was made known whether he accepted of it or not.—( Old<br />
