180 Conclusion Make no mistake: the print world and the web world are different places, each with its own idiosyncrasies. They do have at least one very important thing in common, though, which is that they exist to help people communicate. While we should acknowledge and respect the fact that what works typographically for one might not work for the other, we should also respect the reader, who can benefit from many techniques whose utility is not inextricably tied to either medium. The techniques I’ve outlined in this chapter should have given you a good idea of some ways that you can enliven type on the Web.
