If the person using the site then opens a navigational pane, the links that were off the screen will not be available using the numbered mechanism. The user could then repopulate the links array by saying “link” again, to give a numbered link choice, as illustrated in Figure 10-7. Figure 10-7. 258 If the user does repeat the “link” command, and then closes the navigational pane (or changes to another pane), he ends up with a visual “artifact” where each of the links used to be (see Figure 10-8 for an example). When using DOM scripting effects to move or generate content within the page, the links array does not automatically update. It requires the user to update it manually by giving the appropriate command, such as “link.”
