la cruz, hasta la muerte (Jn 15,13). En el colmo del desamor eliminamos su forma humana y mortal y Él, muriendo por amor, acabó con la muerte, dejó vencidas en la cruz todas las posibilidades humanas de desamor. Aún no se ha acabado todo. Dios sabe de nuestra testarudez y quiere cambiar nuestro corazón de piedra por otro de carne, mostrarnos su amor entrañable. Por eso, tras la Resurrección de Jesús, nos entrega su Espíritu y nos hace hijos (Rom 8,15-17), para que la relación con Él no se rompa jamás. Él, que es amor (1 Jn 4,8), sabe que la comunicación total que desea establecer con nosotros sólo puede realizarse en el amor y desde el amor. Introduciendo su Espíritu de amor en nuestros corazones nos hace participes de su misma vida: la vida de amor que se vive en el seno de la Trinidad, entre el Padre, el Hijo y el Espíritu. Podemos afirmar que “hemos conocido el amor” (1 Jn 3,16), que estamos sumergidos en Él, que nos abraza por todos los lados (Sal 139,5). Si nos estancáramos y nos mantuviésemos sentados, si dijésemos “¡qué bien se está aquí!”, no habríamos entendido nada. Jesús, que nos revela el amor de Dios, nos dice “Amaos” (Jn 15,12), y cuando san Juan exclama: “Dios es amor”, pide también que nos “amémonos los unos a los otros (1 Jn 4,7). No es un chantaje de Dios, porque el amor no necesita obligar, tiene una fuerza que arrastra voluntariamente. El amor de Dios impulsa a la donación y a la entrega, porque “amor con amor se paga”. El amor cristiano, porque es espejo del amor de Dios, es un amor sin límites, sin lógicas humanas. Pablo en la primera carta a los Corintios señala algunas características de este amor en un pasaje que se ha llamado el “himno al amor”: «El amor es paciente y bondadoso..., no es egoísta..., todo lo excusa, todo lo cree, todo lo espera, todo lo aguanta» (1 Cor 13,4-7). Amar en cristiano forma parte de lo sencillo y cotidiano, todos podemos comprenderlo, pero mantener este amor como estilo de vida es tarea de héroes. A pesar de ello no nos desanimamos. Este amor, que tiene su manantial en Dios y que se dirige a la vez a Dios y a nuestros hermanos, podemos vivirlo porque «al darnos el Espíritu, Dios ha derramado su amor en nuestros corazones» (Rom 5,5). Proclamar que “Dios es amor” nos implica en la dura pero hermosa tarea de hacer presente a ese Dios amor en nuestro mundo, nos lanza a amar a los demás, lo que Dios más ama. Proclamar que Dios es amor absoluto que ama y perdona sin condiciones, que ese amor lo han visto nuestros ojos y palpado nuestras manos es labor de toda una vida de oración, de servicio, de entrega hasta el extremo, porque no hay mayor amor que dar la vida por los demás (Jn 15,13). 10
