hold the U.S. flag between them, and lead everyone in
the Pledge of Allegiance.
Pledge of Allegiance
I pledge allegiance to the flag
Of the United States of America
And to the republic for which it stands,
One nation under God, indivisible,
With liberty and justice for all.
Play First Time or 2 vs. 2 with Four Goals. (See the
appendix.)
Scouting Activity
(Den: 25 minutes)
Secret Shoes
Divide the group into teams. At one end of the playing
area, have an old sheet or other large cover. Scramble
the shoes. The teams line up relay fashion across the
field from the shoes. On signal, the first boy in each
line runs to the cover and without looking under it, he
must feel for his shoes. When he finds the right pair, he
puts them on and races back to his line. The next boy
repeats the action, and so on until all have raced. First
team back at the finish wearing their own shoes wins.
Scrimmage Games
(Den: 30 minutes)
Key Coaching Point—During your game, encourage
attacking players to strike the ball with the inside of
their feet for accuracy when closer to goal.
Core Values Reflection and
Closing Ceremony
(Pack: 10 minutes)
Tell the boys and parents about the Core Value, Responsibility,
which means fulfilling our duty to God,
country, other people, and ourselves. See if you can
elicit responses to the question of how responsibility
applies to preparing for home alone.
Ask the boys to demonstrate to you that they have memorized
the Scout Oath or Promise and the 12 points of
the Scout Law. See who can say them the fastest.
