Saturday Game-Day Session<br />

Things to take: U.S. flag. Paper and pencils for the<br />

map game<br />

Opening Ceremony<br />

(Pack: 5 minutes)<br />

Have the boys line up with their parents standing behind<br />

them, with two boys out front holding the U.S.<br />

flag between them, and have them recite the Pledge<br />

<strong>of</strong> Allegiance.<br />

I pledge allegiance to the flag<br />

Of the United States <strong>of</strong> <strong>America</strong><br />

And to the republic for which it stands,<br />

Soccer Skills Clinic<br />

(Den: 25 minutes)<br />

Play 1-on-1 Shield Soccer or Five-Touch Keep Ball.<br />

(See the appendix.)<br />

Scrimmage Games<br />

(Den: 30 minutes)<br />

Key Coaching Point—During your game, encourage<br />

players to use a turn or trick to dribble out <strong>of</strong> pressure<br />

when shielding the ball from a pressuring defender.<br />

Core Values Reflection and<br />

Closing Ceremony<br />

(Pack: 10 minutes)<br />

Tell the boys about the Core Value, Health and Fitness,<br />

which is being personally committed to keeping our<br />

minds and bodies clean and fit. Ask for input from<br />

boys and parents as to how soccer has helped them be<br />

more healthy and more fit.<br />

Have the boys form a circle, give the Cub Scout sign,<br />

and recite the Law <strong>of</strong> the Pack.<br />

Scouting Activity<br />

(Den: 25 minutes)<br />

Alphabet Park Game<br />

Use the letters <strong>of</strong> the alphabet to name something that is<br />

found in parks. See how many letters the boys can pair<br />

with items. Divide the den into two groups and compare<br />

results. (For example, p = parking lot; t = tree).<br />
