Race Chase<br />
Purpose<br />
To develop soccer-specific speed and endurance<br />
Organization<br />
Set out a 30-by-20-yard area with a goal (5 yards wide) and a goalkeeper on both endlines. Play 2 vs. 2 inside the<br />
area. Station 6 players, 10 yards apart, around the outside <strong>of</strong> the area.<br />
Game Objective<br />
While inside players play 2 vs. 2 inside the area, outside players sprint around the area in a clockwise direction, trying<br />
to overtake the player in front <strong>of</strong> them. Play for 1 minute and then rotate positions. Repeat.<br />
Progressions<br />
1. Increase the time between rotations.<br />
2. When the coach shouts out “change,” outside players change direction.<br />
3. Each outside player has a ball.<br />
Key Coaching Points<br />
1. Drive your arms.<br />
2. Bring your knees up.<br />
