How many soccer words can you think <strong>of</strong> that have six<br />

letters? Here’s one to get you started: goalie.<br />

Saturday Game-Day Session<br />

Things to take: Short lengths <strong>of</strong> rope for the boys to<br />

practice tying their square knots.<br />

Opening Ceremony<br />

(Pack: 5 minutes)<br />

Have the boys form a line, give the Cub<br />

Scout sign, and recite the Cub Scout<br />

Promise, followed by the Law <strong>of</strong> the Pack.<br />

Play Playing Through in 3s or 3 vs. 1 vs. 1. (See the<br />

Scouting Activity<br />

(Den: 25 minutes)<br />

Give the boys a length <strong>of</strong> rope each and have them<br />

practice tying their square knots. See which boy would<br />

like to volunteer to demonstrate how to tie it correctly.<br />

Alphabet Park Game<br />

Use the letters <strong>of</strong> the alphabet to name something that is<br />

found in parks. See how many letters the boys can pair<br />

with items. Divide the den into two groups and compare<br />

results. (For example, p = parking lot; t = tree).<br />

Scrimmage Games<br />

(Den: 30 minutes)<br />

Key Coaching Point—During your game, encourage<br />

players to name the person they are passing to and to<br />

call for the ball and tell the player where they want the<br />

ball to be played.<br />

Core Values Reflection and<br />

Closing Ceremony<br />

(Pack: 10 minutes)<br />

Tell the boys about the Core Value, Respect, which<br />

means showing regard for the worth <strong>of</strong> something or<br />

someone. Ask them for examples <strong>of</strong> how respect applies<br />

to talking on the telephone.<br />

SEASON<br />

Have the boys form a circle, give the Cub Scout sign,<br />

then recite the Law <strong>of</strong> the Pack. They should then<br />

lower their arms, and lead them in yelling their den<br />

yell twice.<br />
