Como Segunda Prioridad, una superficieestimada en 536,000 Ha. que se centra sobre la parte alta de Ids cuencas de los ríosGhandi es y Yaco, que constituye la zona estudiada más alejada como de difícil acceso.D. FAUNA SILVESTRELa zona de estudio presenta una fauna silvestre muy amplia y variadapropia del Nuevo Mundo y del ámbito amazónico tropical boscoso. Siendo una zonaremota y poco modificada por la acción humana, la población de especies animales seencuentra escasamente afectada, constituyendo un elevado potencial tanto la fauna silvestreterrestre como acuática. Muchas de las especies son muy codiciadas tanto por supiel como por su carne, base de la alimentación del poblador selvicola.Los mamíferos están representados, en primer lugar, por una am -plia variedad de primates, en la que destacan el 'Viuapo colorado" (Cacajao rubicundus),de muy fácil caza y muy estimado por su carne t siendo muy sensible a la cautividad; el"coto mono" (Alouatta senicuius) de inferior calidad de carne; los monos capuchinos consus especies 'Vnanchin negro" (Cebus apela) y 'Vnanchfn blanco" (Cebus albifrons), muyabundantes y representan los monos de la Selva peruana de mayor distribución; el "fraile"(Saimirí sciureus), la especie primate más común de la Selva del Perú, de hábitosgregarios y algo nomádicos..Entre los herbívoros mamíferos, cabe indicar, la "huangana" (íayassupecar?) y el "sajino" (Tayassu tajacu), paquidermos ambos que llegan a pesar 40kilos, muy perseguidos tanto por su carne como por su piel; la 'Isachavaca" (Tap i rus terrestris'oTapirus americanus), adquiere proporciones de un asno y con un peso aproximado entre 80 a 90 Kg. y cuya nariz en forma de trompa le asemeja a un elefante pequeño;especie muy perseguida por su carne esquisita. Al grupo de los cérvidos se tiene el'Venado" (Mazama americana), una de las especies animales más perseguidas tanto porsu carne de alto valor proteico como por su piel que es comercializada a los recolectoresde Pucallpa e Iquitos. Dentro de los roedores se tiene el "ronsoco" (Hidrochoerishydrochaeris) considerado el roedor más grande del mundo, pues llega a pesar cerca de70 Kg: los pobladores del lugar consumen su carne y su piel se utiliza en talabarteríc;El "añuje" (Pasyprocta sp.) y 'Vnajas" (Cuniculus paca), ambos roedores perseguidos fundamentalmente por su carne; el último de los nombrados posee una de las carnes más esquisitas. Entre los mustélidos, se tiene a la "nutria" (Lutra incarum) muy perseguida porel alto valor de su piel' y cuero. Al grupo de los edentados (armadillos), cabe indicar ,la "carachupa" (Dasipus novencintus) codiciada por su carne; el "oso hormiguero" (Myrmecophagatridactyla) otro edentado propio de la zona. Al grupo de los 'Vnapaches ",56tiene el "achuni" (Nasua nasua); la "chosna " (Potos flavus) cuya carne es ampliamentecomida; a ciertas partes de su cuerpo se le atribuyen propiedades afrodisíacas.Entre los mamíferos carnívoros destacan el "otorongo" (Leo oncaperuviana) , el felino más grande de la selva, muy perseguido por su hermosa piel, de
