“Me acerco a las cosas y materiales que me atraen, las identifico y las
observo, y dejo que me digan qué hacer con ellas”.
La obra de Negra Álvarez es a una de las voces más singulares
de la escultura de El Salvador, a través de un lenguaje basado en
la búsqueda y el encuentro de materiales y objetos que crean
piezas tridimensionales que transitan en las invisibles fronteras de la
escultura, el arte objeto y la instalación.
Su obra es orgánica y vital: la creación, la maternidad y el parto. “Ese
universo femenino soy yo, no busco temas ajenos, expreso lo que
me impacta o cuestiona”, dice la artista.
Estudió en la Academia de Bellas Artes de Lovaina, Bélgica y es
fundadora de la Asociación de Artistas Plásticos de El Salvador.
“I approach things and materials that attract me, I identify and
observe them, and then I let them say to me what to do with them.”
Negra Alvarez’s work is one of the most unique voices coming from
the sculptural space of El Salvador. Through a language based on the
search and the finding of materials and objects that create threedimensional
pieces which cross the invisible boundaries of sculpture,
object art, and installation.
Her work is organic and vital: the creation, motherhood and childbirth.
“That female universe is me, I do not look for issues belonging to
others, I express what strikes or questions me,” says the artist.
She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Louvain, Belgium and
she is founder of the Association of Artists of El Salvador.
