Monumentos y Esculturas

Estas esculturas, de corte grecorromano y talladas en mármol, se
encuentran en los jardines de la alcaldía de San Miguel. Representan las
Cuatro estaciones y los cinco continentes.
These sculptures, of Greco-Roman cut and carved in marble, are found
in the gardens of the town hall office of San Miguel. They represent
the four seasons and the five continents.
Fueron colocadas en el parque central de San Miguel en 1921. Miden 1.50
metros de altura y son representaciones alegóricas con gran riqueza
en su talla. Entre las décadas de 1920 y finales del siglo XX, una de
ellas, América, fue robada. En el año 2004, la alcaldía las restauró y las
trasladó a sus jardines.
They were placed in the Central Park at San Miguel in 1921. They
measure 1.50 meters high and are rich allegoric representations in
its size. Between the 1920’s and the end of the XX century, one of
them, America, was stolen. In 2004, the town hall restored them and
transferred them to its gardens.
Es muy probable que estas esculturas hayan sido creadas en Italia,
como el resto de la estatuaria, fúnebre y profana, que vino a El Salvador
desde 1880 hasta 1940.
It is probably that these sculptures have been created in Italy, like the
rest of the statuary, funerary and profane, that came to El Salvador
from 1880 until 1940.
Invierno. Coronada con los frutos de la estación y la antorcha de la libertad.
Winter. Crowned with the fruits of the season and the torch of freedom.
Europa. Situada en el jardín principal de la alcaldía. Fue tallada circa de 1910.
Europe. Located in the main garden of the town hall office. Was carved close to 1910.
Primavera. Representada por el florecimiento de los frutos.
Spring. Represented by the flourishing of the fruits.
