16 Story of the tournament Semi-finals Brazil v Germany 1-7 (0-5) Hosts Brazil went into the semi-final encounter without their suspended skipper Silva and injured striker Neymar. They went all out against the Germans from the start in search of an early lead, but it was the Germans who took the lead in the 11 th minute as Kroos whipped in a corner to the unmarked Müller, who duly scored. Despite being goalless, the first half was by no means dull. It was Argentina who had the better opportunities, but Higuaín failed to capitalise on two golden chances.
