Anita PariThirteen-year-old Anita Pari has charmed audienceswith her beautiful interpretations of the pianorepertoire. In 2009, she placed first at the CanadianMusic Competition. In 2010, she completed thePerformers’ Diploma of the Royal Conservatory ofMusic, receiving a gold medal for maintaining thehighest average mark in theory exams. This year, sheplaced third at the Virginia Waring International PianoCompetition where she performed Shostakovich’s F Major Concertowith orchestra. Most recently she participated in the Young ArtistProgram of the National Arts Centre as the only young pianist selectedin the pre-college program. Anita studies piano with Andrew Tunis ofthe University of Ottawa. She also studies cello with Anne Contant ofthe Conservatoire de musique de Gatineau and composes, havingdistinguished herself in both disciplines at the national level. Her“Nocturne for Strings” was performed last year by the Cecilia StringQuartet.Steven PhilcoxPianist Steven Philcox has performed with many of ourmost renowned singers, including Richard Margison,Jean Stillwell, and Isabel Bayrakdarian. Recitalappearances have taken him to many of NorthAmerica’s greatest concert halls, including his 1998debut at Carnegie Hall (Weill Hall) in association withthe American Society for Contemporary Opera andSong. Further recital appearances have included LosAngeles and Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center, New York. His debutrecording with Canadian soprano Martha Guth features the works ofDebussy, Crumb, and Messaien. A graduate of the University of BritishColumbia, Steven Philcox received his Master of Music degree from theManhattan School of Music, where he was a student of Warren Jones.He has served as vocal coach, répétiteur, and assistant conductor withthe Canadian Opera Company and is on the faculty of The GlennGould School of The Royal Conservatory.pianoÂgée de treize ans, Anita Pari sait charmer son publicavec ses belles interprétations du répertoire pour piano.En 2009, elle a remporté le premier prix du Concoursde musique du Canada. By age seven,Rachel Barton Pine was already soloing with orchestrasand at age ten, she made her first appearance with theChicago Symphony. She hit the competition circuit withfull force, winning numerous national and international competitionswhile still in her teens. In 1992, at age 17, she became the youngestperson and first American to win a gold medal at the prestigious J.S.Bach International Competition in Leipzig, Germany. Other top prizesfollowed in the Szigeti (Budapest), Paganini (Genoa), Queen Elisabeth(Brussels), Kreisler (Vienna) and Montreal international violincompetitions.
