Vienna Piano TrioDescribed as “one of the world’s leading ensembles ofviolin, cello and piano” (Washington Post), and “the BeauxArts Trio of the 21 st century” (The Baltimore Sun), theVienna Piano Trio has been praised for its silkenhomogeneous sound, and its “telepathic gifts ofcommunication” (The Plain Dealer). Since 2006, the Triohas become the ensemble-in-residence at Vienna’sKonzerthaus within the Mozartsaal series. In the 2011-2012 season, it will also become the ensemble-in-residence at London’sWigmore Hall. The Vienna Piano Trio annually appears at theConcertgebouw, Wigmore Hall and on many other major stagesworldwide. On this continent, the ensemble has performed at Carnegie’sWeill Recital Hall, Kennedy and Lincoln Centers, the Frick Collection,and at major series in Philadelphia, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Chicago, St.Louis, Los Angeles, Vancouver, Ottawa, Montreal and Quebec City.Their numerous recordings have all received strong critical acclaim.Lawrence VinePrincipal Horn with the National Arts Centre Orchestrasince 2002, Lawrence Vine has also served as PrincipalHorn with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, theManitoba Chamber Orchestra and the CalgaryPhilharmonic Orchestra. A much sought-after chambermusician, Lawrence Vine has performed with AndrewDawes, Lynn Harrell, Joseph Kalichstein, Anton Kuerti,Malcolm Lowe, Pascal Rogé, David Schifrin, JosephSilverstein and Pinchas Zukerman. He regularly performs at home andon tour with the National Arts Centre (NAC) Wind Quintet, a highlyacclaimed ensemble that has recently recorded its debut CD on theNaxos label. Lawrence Vine was a long-time member of the NorthernBrass Quintet, and performed regularly with the MusikBarockEnsemble, Groundswell, the Winnipeg Chamber Music Society, and theLand’s End Ensemble of Calgary. An active teacher and clinician,Lawrence Vine has been an instructor at the University of Manitoba.He also serves on the faculty of the NAC Summer Music Institute.Les Violons du RoyThe chamber orchestra Les Violons du Roy, with a coremembership of fifteen players, was formed in 1984 bymusic director Bernard Labadie and specializes in thevast repertoire of music for chamber orchestra,performed in the stylistic manner most appropriate toeach era. Although the ensemble plays on moderninstruments, its approach to the works of the Baroqueand Classical periods has been strongly influenced bycurrent research into performance practice in the 17 th and early 18 thcenturies; in this repertoire Les Violons du Roy use copies of periodbows. The orchestra has been widely acclaimed for the exceptionalenergy, brilliance and vitality of its performances. Les Violons du Royhas given dozens of concerts throughout Europe with internationallyrenowned soloists including Magdalena Kožená, David Daniels andVivica Genaux. The orchestra has been asked to perform twice at theConcertgebouw in Amsterdam. Depuis 2006, le trio est l’ensembleen résidence du Konzerthaus de Vienne pendantles séries Mozartsaal. En 2010, il devient aussi l’ensemble en résidencedu Wigmore Hall de Londres. Le Trio de Vienne avec piano joue chaqueannée sur les planches du Concertgebouw, au Wigmore Hall et sur denombreuses autres scènes de réputation internationale. Chambristetrès apprécié, il a joué avec Andrew Dawes, Lynn Harrell,Joseph Kalichstein, Anton Kuerti, Malcolm Lowe,Pascal Rogé, David Schifrin, Joseph Silverstein et PinchasZukerman. Il se produit régulièrement à Ottawa et en tournée avecle Quintette à vents du Centre national des Arts, ensemble très applaudiqui a enregistré récemment son premier CD sous l’étiquette Naxos. LawrenceVine a longtemps fait partie du Quintette Northern Brass et s’estproduit régulièrement avec le MusikBarock Ensemble, Groundswell, laWinnipeg Chamber Music Society et le Land’s End Ensemble de Calgary.Très actif comme professeur et animateur d’ateliers, Lawrence Vinea enseigné à l’Université du Manitoba. Il fait par ailleurs partie du corpsprofessoral de l’Institut estival de musique du CNA.Les Violons du RoyFondé en 1984 par son directeur musical actuel, BernardLabadie, Les Violons du Roy regroupe au minimum unequinzaine de musiciens qui se consacrent au vaste répertoirepour orchestre de chambre en favorisant une approchestylistique la plus juste possible pour chaqueépoque. Bien que Les Violons du Roy jouent sur instrumentsmodernes, leur fréquentation des répertoires baroqueet classique est fortement influencée par lesmouvements contemporains de renouveau dans l’interprétation de lamusique du XVIIe siècle et de la première moitié du XVIIIe, pour laquelleles musiciens utilisent des copies d’archets d’époque. La formationa donné plusieurs dizaines de concerts en Europe en compagnie de solistesde renommée internationale, dont Magdalena Koğená, David Danielset Vivica Genaux.
