Christopher PlummerChristopher Plummer has spent 60 years in the theatreon both sides of the Atlantic and is a veteran of wellover a hundred motion pictures. Last season he receivedan Oscar nomination for his Tolstoy in The Last Stationand his most recent film, Beginners, has opened to aformidable reception. Plummer began professionally inhis native Montreal on radio in both French andEnglish. Subsequently his long and distinguished careeron Broadway over the years has brought him much acclaiminternationally. He has also been a leading player at Britain’s RoyalShakspeare Company, The National Theatre, and at Canada’s StratfordFestival. He has performed most of literature’s great classic roles andhas written for television, stage and the concert hall. Among hishonours, he has received two Tonys / seven nominations; two Emmys/ six nominations; London’s Evening Standard Award; and Canada’sGenie Award, plus four nominations. In 1968, he was made aCompanion of the Order of Canada, and in 2000 he was given theGovernor General’s Lifetime Achievement Award. He is a Doctor ofFine Arts at Juilliard in New York and has honorary doctorates at sixmajor Canadian universities. He also has been inducted into the theatre’sHall of Fame and Canada’s “Walk of Fame.” His autobiography, In Spiteof Myself, continues to enjoy considerable success.Paule PréfontainePaule Préfontaine has lived in the Ottawa region since2001 and been active in the chamber music scene. Sheplays regularly with the National Arts Centre Orchestra,13 Strings, and Ottawa Symphony. She has enjoyed aversatile career as recitalist, soloist, orchestral player, andchamber musician, and has performed throughoutCanada, Norway, Sweden, Austria, Ireland and Finland,and in broadcasts on CBC Radio and for the NorwegianRadio Kringkasting. As a member of the renowned Tafelmusik BaroqueOrchestra, she toured Europe, Canada and the United States, appearingas soloist at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. In herorchestral career, she has been concertmaster of Orchestre des concertssymphoniques de Gatineau, MusikBarock Ensemble of Winnipeg,Niagara Symphony Orchestra and Orchestre des jeunes du Québec. Inaddition, she was assistant concertmaster of the Bergen PhilharmonicOrchestra from 1988 to 1993.Menahem PresslerMenahem Pressler, founding member and pianist of theBeaux Arts Trio, has established himself among theworld’s most distinguished and honoured musicians,with a career that spans over five decades. Now in his86th year, he continues to captivate audiencesthroughout the world as performer and pedagogue,performing solo and chamber music recitals to greatcritical acclaim, while maintaining a dedicated androbust teaching career. For nearly 60 years, Menahem Pressler has taughton the piano faculty at the world renowned Indiana University JacobsSchool of Music where he currently holds the rank of DistinguishedProfessor of Music and the Charles Webb Chair. In addition to teachingat Indiana University, he continually presents master classes throughoutthe world, and continues to serve on the jury of many majorinternational piano competitions. Elle est violon solo de l’Orchestre des concertssymphoniques de Gatineau depuis 2002, membre deThirteen Strings et elle joue fréquemment avec l’Orchestredu Centre national des Arts. Elle est récitaliste, soliste,musicienne d’orchestre et interprète de musique dechambre. Elle s’est produite au Canada, en Scandinavie,en Autriche et à la radio au Canada et en Norvège. Avecl’orchestre Tafelmusik, dont elle a déjà fait partie, elle a effectué des tournéesen Europe, au Canada et aux États-Unis et a joué en soliste au MetropolitanMuseum de New York. Auparavant, elle a été successivementviolon solo de l’Orchestre symphonique de Niagara, de l’Orchestre desjeunes du Québec, de l’Ensemble MusikBarok et violon solo associé del’Orchestre philharmonique de Bergen, qu’elle a accompagné en tournéeen Europe et au Japon. Paule Préfontaine enseigne en cours privé, à l’Universitéd’Ottawa et à l’Académie de l’Orchestre des jeunes d’Ottawa.pianoPianiste fondateur du Trio Beaux-Arts, riche d’une carrièrede plus de cinquante ans couvert d’honneurs, MenahemPressler fait partie des très grands musiciens denotre époque. À quatre-ving six ans, il captive encoreses auditeurs du monde entier, que ce soit en tant quepédagogue, soliste ou chambriste, et recueille les élogesde la critique tout en poursuivant ses activités d’enseignantdévoué. Depuis près de soixante ans, MenahemPressler enseigne le piano à la très réputée Jacobs School of Music del’Université de l’Indiana, où, à titre de professeur émérite, il est titulairede la chaire Charles Webb d’enseignement de la musique. En outre, ildonne des ateliers de perfectionnement dans divers pays et continue defaire partie des jurys de nombreux concours de piano.
