John AbbergerJohn Abberger, one of North America’s leadingperformers on historical oboes, is principal oboist withTafelmusik and the American Bach Soloists (SanFrancisco). He also appears regularly with otherprominent period-instrument ensembles. His recordingof the Concerto for Oboe by Alessandro Marcello withTafelmusik was glowingly reviewed by GramophoneMagazine as “one of the best there is” and “alone worththe price of the disc, even if you have other versions.” He recordsregularly with many of the above mentioned orchestras, and can beheard on numerous recordings. John Abberger serves on the faculty atthe University of Toronto and the University of Western Ontario, andhas taught at the City College of New York. A native of Orlando,Florida, he received his training at the Juilliard School, and LouisianaState University. In addition, he holds a Performers Certificate in EarlyMusic from New York University.Thomas AnnandThomas Annand leads an active life with numerousensembles, including the Thirteen Strings ChamberOrchestra and the National Arts Centre Orchestra. Hehas been Artistic Director for Capital BrassWorks, afounding member of the Gruppetto BaroqueEnsemble, and is Director of Music at St. Andrew’sPresbyterian Church in Ottawa, a role he has held since1992. After winning the First Prize in the RCCONational Organ Competition in 1987, Thomas Annand began a careeras soloist, first as organist and recently as harpsichordist. He gives manyrecitals each year throughout North America and every year since 1995,he has been a guest soloist at the Carmel Bach Festival in California. Hehas appeared as soloist in the International Congress of Organists, andthe Organ Historical Society Convention. As well, he is ArtisticDirector of the Chamber Players of Canada, PrincipalCellist of the chamber orchestra Thirteen Strings andteaches regularly at the University of Ottawa, offeringcourses in both music performance and arts administration. He hasplayed in most of Canada’s concert halls and many in the United Statesand Europe. He has recorded over 30 CDs for many labels includingMarquis, Crystal, ATMA, CMS Classics, CentreDiscs, SRI, CanSona,Studea Musica and CBC. Julian Armour was named a Chevalier de l’Ordredes Arts et des Lettres in December 2002 by the Government of Francefor his contributions to music. In 2003, he was awarded the MeritoriousService Medal by Her Excellency the Right Honourable AdrienneClarkson, Governor General and Commander-in-Chief of Canada. Il a aussi reçu la Médailledu service méritoire de Son Excellence la très honorable Adrienne Clarkson,gouverneure générale et commandante en chef du Canada.
