The Theatre ofEarly MusicFounded by Artistic Director andConductor Daniel Taylor, the Choir andOrchestra of the Theatre of Early Music(TEM) are sought-after interpreters ofmagnificent yet neglected choral andinstrumental repertoire from fourcenturies. Their appearances includestunning a cappella programmes, with practices and aesthetics of formerages informing thought-provoking, passionate and committedreconstructions of music for historical events and major works fromthe oratorio tradition. With Daniel Taylor, the Choir and Orchestra ofthe TEM are new visitors to the world’s most renowned concert hallsand festivals and are building an exciting discography in partnership withSony Classical Masterworks.David Thies-ThompsonDavid Thies-Thompson joined the National ArtsCentre Orchestra as a violinist in 1990. In July 2008, hebecame a full-time member of that orchestra’s violasection, after playing in the section for the previous year.David Thies-Thompson has performed asconcertmaster for Thirteen Strings, Ottawa SymphonyOrchestra and the Opera Lyra Ottawa Orchestra andhas been heard in recital on CBC Radio. He hasperformed chamber music in the National Arts Centre Music for aSunday Afternoon series and New Music concerts, as well as at theOttawa Chamber Music Festival. An active teacher, coach andconductor, he finds great fulfilment working with committed amateurs,students and semi-professionals as music director of the OttawaChamber Orchestra, one of Ottawa’s premier community orchestras.David Thies-Thompson is an associate of the Royal Conservatory andthe Victoria Conservatory of Music, and furthered his studies at theEastman School of Music, McGill University and the Banff Centre.Margaret Munro TobolowskaMargaret Munro Tobolowska received her Bachelor ofMusic in Performance from the University of Torontoin 1992 under Daniel Domb and continued at the CurtisInstitute of Music, where she studied with David Soyer.Following her graduation from the Curtis Institute ofMusic in 1994 with an Artist Diploma, she won aposition with the Vancouver Symphony, and is presentlya member of the National Arts Centre Orchestra.Margaret Munro Tobolowska is a founding member of The LeadingNote Foundation, a member of its Board of Directors and theOrKidstra Program’s Director of Pedagogy. She has performed at manyinternational Chamber Festivals, including the Ravinia Festival inChicago, the Verbier Festival in Switzerland, the Schleswig-HolsteinFestival in Germany, Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen, Le DomaineForget in Quebec, the Festival of the Sound in Parry Sound, Ontario,the Ottawa International Chamber Music Festival, the LanaudièreFestival, and the McGill Chamber Orchestra series.The Theatre ofEarly MusicLe Theatre of Early Music (TEM), comprenantchoeur et orchestre, fondé parson chef et directeur artistique DanielTaylor, est un ensemble de musiciensparmi les plus recherchés, interprétantdes chefs-d’oeuvre souvent méconnusde plus de quatre siècles du répertoirevocal et instrumental. Aprèsavoir passé une saison dans la section des altos de l’Orchestre,en juillet 2008 il a été titularisé dans cette section.Il s’est produit comme violon solo avec l’ensembleThirteen Strings, avec l’Orchestre symphonique d’Ottawaet l’Orchestre d’Opéra Lyra Ottawa. Il a participéà des concerts de musique de chambre dans le cadre dela série Musique pour un dimanche après-midi du Centre national desArts, à des concerts de musique nouvelle et au Festival international demusique de chambre d’Ottawa. On a pu l’entendre également en récitalà la radio anglaise de Radio-Canada. Pédagogue, mentor et chef d’orchestredynamique, Il enseigne le violon et se plaît à conseiller et à dirigerles jeunes et les moins jeunes musiciens amateurs de l’Orchestre dechambre d’Ottawa. Membre associé du Royal Conservatory of Musicet du Victoria Conservatory of Music, il a étudié à la Eastman Schoolof Music, à l’Université McGill et au Centre Banff.cello / violoncelleAdmise à 16 ans à l’Université de Toronto dans la classede Daniel Domb, Margaret Munro Tobolowska a terminéson baccalauréat en interprétation de la musiqueen 1992 et obtenu une bourse complète pour poursuivreses études au prestigieux Curtis Institute of Music dePhiladelphie, où elle s’est perfectionnée auprès de DavidSoyer. Après y avoir obtenu un diplôme d’artiste en1994, elle a été immédiatement engagée par l’Orchestresymphonique de Vancouver. En janvier 1999, elle a accepté avec fiertéun poste de musicienne au sein de l’Orchestre du Centre national desArts. Elle s’est produite dans de nombreux festivals de musique dechambre internationaux d’Amérique du Nord et d’Europe, notammentau Festival Ravinia à Chicago, au Festival de Verbier en Suisse, au Festivaldu Schleswig-Holstein en Allemagne, aux Jardins de Tivoli à Copenhague,au Domaine Forget au Québec, au Festival of the Sound à ParrySound en Ontario, au Festival international de musique de chambred’Ottawa, au Festival de Lanaudière et dans la série de l’Orchestre dechambre de McGill.Musique et autres mondes I musicandbeyond.ca 123
