Eric FriesenEric Friesen is a veteran broadcaster, writer and speakeron music and culture. He spent much of his life as anetwork music host and producer for CBC Radio andMinnesota Public Radio (NPR), as well as a networkexecutive for both organizations. For CBC he hostedprograms such as Studio Sparks, In Performance, andOnstage at Glenn Gould Studio. Since leaving the CBCat the end of 2008, Eric Friesen has been busy servinga wide variety of major cultural organizations in Canada. He has alsorecently completed six podcast documentaries called Eric Friesen Presentsfor www.artsalive.ca, marking the 40th anniversary of the National ArtsCentre Orchestra. He serves as director and advisor to a number ofcultural and arts organizations.Lori GemmellIn 1999, Lori won the position of Principal Harpist withthe Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony Orchestra, whereshe still plays today. One year later she was a prizewinnerat the Canadian Concerto Competition. She alsohas been a teacher for many years, both with a privatestudio and a faculty position at Wilfrid LaurierUniversity. Lori has earned a strong reputation amongCanadian Composers for her passion and dedication totheir music. Over the years she has worked closely with R. MurraySchafer, Srul Irving Glick, John Weinzweig, Alexina Louie, Glenn Buhr,Marjan Mozetich, Jeff Ryan and many others. In addition to all of that,Lori also makes time for playing and creating with others in smallgroups. In recent years she has made chamber music with Yo-Yo Ma,Joseph Silverstein, Sara Sant’Ambrogio, Joe Macerollo, Oliver Schroer,Mark Fewer, Robert Cram, Etsuko Kimura, Camille Watts, with singersPatricia O’Callaghan, Monica Wicher and Julie Nesrallah and Feist. Elle enseigneaux universités Western Ontario et Wilfrid Laurier et en studioprivé à Toronto.Joanna G’froererOne of Canada’s best known flutists, Joanna G’froererenjoys an exciting career as an orchestral player, chambermusician, soloist and teacher. Joanna G’froerer has beenthe principal flutist of Canada’s National Arts CentreOrchestra since 1992 when she won the audition forthat position at age twenty. Joanna G’froerer performsregularly as a soloist with the National Arts CentreOrchestra (NACO), having appeared in a solo role intwenty-six different programs since joining the ensemble. She also worksregularly with Ottawa’s Thirteen Strings. She has performed as flutesoloist with the CBC Radio Orchestra, the Vancouver SymphonyOrchestra, the Victoria Symphony, the Kingston Symphony, and theQuebec Symphony Orchestra, as well as with the Montreal SymphonyOrchestra (MSO) after winning the wind division of the MSOCompetition in 1990. En juin 2002, Joanna G’froerer a été invitée à enregistreren Espagne un album consacré entièrement à Rodrigo avec le maestroMaximiano Valdés et l’Orchestre symphonique de la principauté des Asturies.Paru en janvier 2004 sous l’étiquette Naxos, ce CD n’a récoltéque des éloges.
