HEREARE A FEW GREAT ESCAPES.Bien sûr, il y a les grandesinstitutions, les emblématiquesmusées Matisse, Chagall, Picasso,Léger… Autant de lieux sanslesquels le paysage azuréen neserait pas ce qu’il est, ce fabuleuxEldorado de l’art du XX e siècle. Maisprécisément, de par la multiplicité deses champs magnétiques, on peutaussi vouloir regarder autrementce territoire si fertile. Comme “unjardin aux sentiers qui bifurquent”,ainsi que le suggère le titre d’unenouvelle de l’écrivain Jorge LuisBorges. Les choses s’ouvrentalors sur un tissu d’œuvrescontemporaines qui font corps avecles horizons des villes, ou embrasentla nature, sur des explorations de lacréation à l’écart des grands axesd’un art balisé. Le point de départ denotre périple s’appelle “Nomade” ;la monumentale sculpture deJaume Plensa est installée sur laterrasse du bastion Saint-Jaume(hasard des noms), sur le portd’Antibes. Faite d’une dentelle delettrages métalliques entrelacés aubleu du ciel, elle semble posée là, envigie rêveuse. L’œuvre étant creuse,on peut voir ses galbes ajourésonduler de l’intérieur. Un Golgothade guipures, une contemplationeuphorisante et mystique !La Tête Carrée abrite la bibliothèque de NiceLe Festival du Peu à BonsonThere are, of course, the biginstitutions such as the iconicMatisse, Chagall, Picasso and Légermuseums. A fine lace of metallicletters that intermingle with the blueof the sky, it seems to have been putthere to keep a dream-like watch.Since it is hollow, the ripple of itsopenwork curves can be viewedfrom inside. A Golgotha of guipurelace, its contemplation is bothexhilarating and mystical!
