LA PITTURA TRASOGNATA DI FABRIZIO COSTANZO
THE DREAMT PAINTINGS OF FABRIZIO COSTANZO
Di fronte alle definizioni cristalline, alle bizzarre e poliedriche
invenzioni della pittura di Fabrizio Costanzo, l’occhio
corre indietro a cercare e salutare i suoi affini, i suoi parenti
lontani e perenni, gli straordinari e toccanti, e come
lui umili e pazienti inventori di miracoli figurativi: tra Duccio,
il Sassetta, l’Angelico delle cronache dipinte in Vaticano.
I cieli, i soffitti, le pianure, i pavimenti si stendono allo
stesso modo: tersi, nitidi, con campiture nette, piatte,
omogenee.
Le terre e le acque rivelano di appartenere a un giorno
diverso dalla creazione.
Come per un effetto di magia emergono sul filo dell’orizzonte
i paesi e i castelli e, la vegetazione, dà inizio ad
una crescita cellulare fatta di steli verticali, di piccoli tasselli
intrecciati, di sagome ricorrenti, di profili ondosi e
zigzaganti, provocando una sensazione remota e perciò
vagamente surreale. Però, questa sensazione di surrealtà
non risponde a un programma estetico, né ad una
semplice scelta di gusto. E’ invece, e soprattutto, l’effetto
del sovrumano silenzio che incombe sul mondo pittorico
di Fabrizio Costanzo, sospeso tra storia e favola, riconosciuto
attraverso luoghi, che sono come segnali, situati in
un’isola deserta.
Costanzo è il primo beato che ne accosta gli approdi, o
l’ultimo esule accorato che se ne allontana.
In front of the crystal-clear definitions, and the strange
and multifaceted inventions of Fabrizio Costanzo’s paintings,
the eye moves backwards in an attempt to find and
say hello to his far-off and everlasting relations, extraordinary
and touching and humble and patient inventors of
figurative miracles, just like him, among Duccio, Sassetta,
Angelico of painted history in the Vatican.
The skies, the ceilings, the lowlandes and the floors extend
in the same way: clean, sharp, with net, flat and balanced
back- grounds.
The earths and waters reveal some kind of belonging to
another day from creation.
Almost by magic, the villages and castles appear on the
horizon and vegetation creates a cellular growth made up
of vertical stems, small intertwined pins of recurrent shapes
and forms, of wavy and zigzagging profiles, stimulating
a remote sensation and therefore slightly surreal. But
this sensation of surrealism is the effect of a superhuman
silence that hangs over Costanzo’s world of paintings,
suspended between history and fairytales, recognised
through places that are like signals, located on a desert
island.
Costanzo is the first blessed to approach the shores or
the last concerned exile to leave.
