Environ 500 étudiants suivent ses courschaque semestre.88What kind of educational establishment is Webster University?We are an American university based in Geneva and offer a range ofcomplete degree courses such as the Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science,as well as the Master of Arts and the Master of Business Admi nistration.Our students can also obtain other qualifications, for example certificatesin marketing or human rights. Our courses are held in English, with theexception of one programme, the Master's in health care management,which takes place in French. We are the only institution in Switzerland tooffer an American university programme which is accredited at bothBachelor's and Master's level. Our university is accredited by the HigherLearning Commission of the North Central Association and also holdsseveral other specific accreditations.How did you come to be based in Geneva?Our parent institution was founded at Saint-Louis, Missouri in 1915.During the 1970s we took the decision to go global, and the Genevacampus was founded in 1978. This year we are celebrating 30 years ofexistence on a large scale at an international level. Our campus is2.5 hectares in size and consists of five buildings. Some of our studentslive on site; others rent accommodation in town.Where do your students come from?Every semester we have some 500 people studying at the university,and no less than 97 nationalities are represented here. One specialfeature of the university is that 15% of them are Swiss. These studentsare without doubt attracted by the American teaching system. Ourapproach is very different: classes are small, and teaching is personalized.In addition, we offer options in terms of mobility and transfers betweendifferent sites as we also have campuses at Vienna, Leiden (Netherlands)as well as in London and several others based in the United Statesand Asia. In this regard we have developed two new courses: the GlobalMA in International Relations and the Global MBA, which offer ourstudents the unique possibility of moving to a different Webster Universitycampus every term. This allows them to soak up the local culture andenrich their experience.How do you see your future?We are observing a strong rise in enrolment in private education,above all in the Lake Geneva region - a trend that is naturally of benefitto us. With our current facilities we can accommodate up to 700students without any problem.Quel type d'établissement est la Webster university ?Nous sommes une université américaine installée à Genève. Ilsreprésentent pas moins de 97 nationalités. Ce qui est particulier, c'estque 15% d'entre eux sont suisses. Ils sont sans doute attirés par notresystème d'enseignement américain. L'approche est très différente, lesclasses plus petites, l'enseignement plus personnalisé. Nous offrons enoutre des possibilités de mobilité et d'échanges entre nos différents sites.Car il existe encore des campus à Vienne, Leiden (NL) et Londres ainsique plusieurs autres aux Etats-Unis et en Asie. A ce sujet, nous avonsdéveloppé deux nouvelles formations : le «Global MA en RelationsInternationales», et le «Global MBA» qui donnent aux étudiants lapossibilité unique et enrichissante de changer tous les trimestres decampus de la Webster University et de s'imprégner de la culture locale.Comment voyez-vous votre futur ?On observe une forte croissance d'enregistrement dans les écolesprivées, notamment dans la région lémanique, et nous profitons bienentendu de la tendance.
