Fotoreportage „Srebrenica – I counted my remaining life in seconds!“
Das DOK.fest und FotoDoks präsentieren Armin Smailovic vom 28. April bis
11. Mai 2011 im Gasteig
Erstmalig ist „FotoDoks – das Festival für aktuelle Dokumentarfotografie“
beim DOK.fest zu Gast und präsentiert den FotoDoks-Preisträger 2009 Armin
Smailovic mit der vielfach ausgezeichneten Reportage: „Srebrenica – I counted
my remaining life in seconds!“
Srebrenica – der Name steht für eines der furchtbarsten Verbrechen
des Jugoslawien-Krieges. _ Bosnisch-serbische Soldaten erschossen
1995 innerhalb weniger Tage mehr als 8000 Muslime. Der bosnische Bauer
Ivo Dudic (Name geändert) war einer der Männer, die auf einer Wiese in der
Nähe von Srebrenica hingerichtet werden sollten. Er stellte sich tot, als die
Mörder schossen und erlebte, wie um ihn herum 1500 Männer starben. _ Der
Münchner Fotograf Armin Smailovic hat den bosnischen Bauern begleitet,
der nach 14 Jahren an die Orte des Grauens zurückgekehrt ist.
Das FotoDoks Festival 2011 findet vom 11. bis 16. Oktober statt.

For the first time DOK.fest plays host to FotoDoks, the festival for
contemporary documentary photography, and presents the 2009 FotoDoks
prize-winner Armin Smailovic with the multi award winning reportage:
“Srebrenica – I counted my remaining life in seconds!”
Srebrenica – a name that is inextricably linked with one of the
most shocking crimes of the Bosnian war. In 1995 in the space of a few days
Bosnian Serb soldiers shot dead more than 8,000 Muslims. _ The Bosnian
farmer Ivo Dudic (name changed) was among the men who were meant to be
executed in the countryside near Srebrenica. He pretended to be dead while
the shooting took place and survived as 1,500 men died around him. The
Munich photographer Armin Smailovic accompanied the Bosnian farmer as
he returned after 14 years to the scene of the massacre.
The FotoDoks festival takes place from 11th - 16th October.

DOK.guest Gastlandreihe: Balkan
In der Reihe DOK.guest sind in diesem Jahr Filmemacher aus dem Balkan
zu Besuch in München und präsentieren ihre aktuellen Arbeiten. Die Filme
befassen sich mit einer Region, die nach den Bürgerkriegen und den großen
Umwälzungen in den neunziger Jahren immer noch nach einer neuen Identität
sucht. Die Spuren der Vergangenheit sind allgegenwärtig, die Aussicht
auf die Zukunft ist noch ganz durch diese geprägt. _ Dem Dokumentarfilm
bleibt es vorbehalten, einen Blick auf das Leben jenseits der kurzfristigen
Schlagzeilen zu werfen. Das DOK.fest München präsen tiert sieben Filme aus
der Region mit detailreichen Perspektiven auf die Gegenwart.
For this year’s DOK.guest section filmmakers from the Balkans will
be visiting Munich and presenting their recent work. These films deal with
a region that, after the civil wars and the great upheavals of the 90s, is still
searching for a new identity. The traces of the past are omnipresent and
they continue to mark the region’s outlook on the future. _ It remains for
the documentary film to take a look at life beyond the short-term headlines.
Munich DOK.fest presents seven films from the region that offer a detailed
look at the here and now.
