"Breakdance" is composed of documentary video material that I shot<br />
during a funfair in the Ruhr Basin. In "Breakdance" I have endeavoured<br />
to illuminate the lives of young people from a subjective perspective,<br />
taking their world seriously with its rules, values, and sense<br />
of right and wrong. I am interested in the border between childhood<br />
and adulthood as a phase in life in which one's identity is increasingly<br />
questioned and role models come to have more and more significance<br />

Egy Ruhr vidéki karnevált dokumentáló videofelvételekbõl készült a<br />
film. Szubjektív szemszögbõl villantja fel fiatal emberek életét, komolyan<br />
véve világukat, szabályaikkal, értékeikkel, jó és rossz iránti<br />
érzékükkel. A rendezõt a gyerekkor és a felnõttkor közötti határvonal<br />
érdekli, mint az élet egy olyan fázisa, ahol az egyén identitása megkérdõjelezõdik,<br />
és a példaképek egyre inkább jelentõséget kapnak az<br />
