The Velodrome is nearly oval, with<br />

hingeless arches, each spanning<br />

168 m. The steel box-shaped arches,<br />

3x2 metres, are supported by huge<br />

foundation reinforced concrete<br />

pillars. Outer arches outlining the<br />

roof also rest on cantilevers of the<br />

stands girders and the inner<br />

ones are braced into a space<br />

block and have no intermediate<br />
