— 3 programmes of the USSR<br />

Central Television Network including<br />

around 20 hours of the Games coverage<br />

in addition to regular telecasts;<br />

— 2 information programmes covering<br />

highlights of each day which<br />

were scheduled by the Gosteleradio<br />

USSR, on the eve for all days of the<br />

Olympics. The programmes contained<br />

the international pictures and the international<br />

sound and were not accompanied<br />

by commentaries.<br />

— 4 assigned and 3 booked private<br />

channels subscribed to by the<br />

OIRT, EBU, TV Asahi, and other<br />

broadcasters to be used for vision<br />

feedbacks to commentator positions<br />

on venues.<br />

A commentator at his desk was<br />

able to select, for example, the programme<br />

to report on and simultaneously<br />

to watch other events in the same<br />

or other sports at the same or other<br />

sites. He also could watch the programmes<br />

of major broadcasters. Besides,<br />

special programmes from the<br />

ACS "Olympiad" data-processing complex<br />

were transmitted to the television<br />

monitors at the athletics and yachting<br />

competition sites.<br />
