The Organising Committee for the<br />
Games of the XXII Olympiad in Moscow<br />

The OCOG numbered 45 members<br />
in all.<br />
The IOC members in the USSR,<br />
V. G. Smirnov and K. A. Andrianov,<br />
were included on the Organising Committee<br />
together with S. P. Pavlov,<br />
President of the USSR Olympic Committee,<br />
as required by Rule 52 of the<br />
Olympic Charter.<br />
All the OCOG members were leaders<br />
of sports and public organisations,<br />
executives of ministries and government<br />
agencies, whose participation in<br />
the preparation and staging of the<br />
Games was essential. At the same<br />
time, they possessed a great deal of<br />
managerial experience in such areas<br />
as sports, construction and architecture,<br />
transport, communications,<br />
power engineering, radio and television,<br />
finance, logistics, arts, information,<br />
services, and commerce.<br />
The Organising Committee consisting<br />
of representatives from government<br />
bodies and of experienced leaders<br />
in the national economy, who<br />
possessed both professional knowledge<br />
and the required authority in<br />
their particular fields, made it possible<br />
for the OCOG to resolve efficiently the<br />
complex problems involved in the<br />
preparation of the Games of the XXII<br />
Olympiad and to ensure their eventual<br />
