For staging the competitions the<br />

International Amateur Cycling Federation<br />

(FIAC) appointed 42 officials<br />

(commissaires) and a panel of judges<br />

from 10 countries, including 30 persons<br />

from the USSR. Soviet auxiliary<br />

personnel (53 persons) worked as<br />

well.<br />

FIAC headquarters was housed in<br />

the cycling track building.<br />

The competition programme did<br />

not undergo any changes since the<br />

previous Olympics.<br />

The Organising Committee fulfilled<br />

the request of a number of national<br />

federations to allow them during the<br />

highway team trial to use their own<br />

representatives as drivers of technical<br />

service vehicles (following mandatory<br />

presentation of an official driver's licence).<br />

If a national delegation did not<br />

have its own driver the OCOG-80<br />

supplied one.<br />

A total of 231 sportsmen from 34<br />

countries took part in the cycling<br />

competitions.<br />

The competitions were held without<br />

protests.<br />
