4006 IRAM<br />

(a) When the individual Marine desires to make a<br />

statement, the following guidance applies:<br />

(1) Complete the statement using a plain white paper,<br />

preferrably typed written.<br />

(2) The Marine’s statement must conform to Article<br />

1122, U. S. Navy Regulations regarding temperate language,<br />

limited to pertinent facts concerning the deficiencies identified<br />

in the page 11 entry and shall not question or impugn the motives<br />

of another person.<br />

(3) This is not the forum for surfacing issues more<br />

timely and appropriately handled at either request mast or<br />

through an Article 138, UCMJ, Complaints of Wrongs hearing.<br />

(b) If the individual Marine annotates their desire “not<br />

to” make a statement, the entry is appropriately annotated as<br />

such and no further action is required.<br />

s. Service Award Election (Reserve Only). When Marine Corps<br />

reservists are assigned to active duty in connection with the<br />

Active Reserve (AR) Program, they must elect whether to continue<br />

their eligibility period for the Selected Marine Corps Reserve<br />

Medal (SMCRM) or start a new eligibility commencement date for<br />

the award of the Good Conduct Medal (GCM). If the Marine elects<br />

to receive the GCM, enter the commencement date on page 12. Make<br />

one of the following entries, signed by the Marine, upon<br />

assignment to AR:<br />

(1) "(Date). I elect to continue my period of entitlement<br />

and eligibility to the SMCRM while assigned to AR Program."<br />

(2) "(Date). I elect entitlement to receive the GCM while<br />

participating in the AR Program."<br />

t. Disposition of Selected Marine Corps Reservists (SMCR) as<br />

a Result of Unit Deactivation, Redesignation, or Relocation<br />

(1) SMCR's awaiting IADT or at IADT may train for another MOS<br />

contingent upon school seat availability compatible with another<br />

SMCR unit within reasonable commuting distance. The following<br />

entry will be made and signed by SMCR concerned:<br />
