"Due to my SMCR unit being deactivated, redesignated, or<br />

relocated, I agree to retrain in MOS ____ which is compatible<br />

with (unit title-location). I understand that by transferring to<br />

this unit upon completion of my IADT, I am still required to<br />

fulfill my mandatory Reserve participation requirements as set<br />

forth in current DOD and Marine Corps Regulations. I understand<br />

I retain entitlement to any enlistment incentive I was guaranteed<br />

in my original contract providing I meet SMCR participation<br />

requirements. Signature of Marine."<br />

(2) When SMCR's are awaiting IADT or at IADT who are<br />

discharged at the Convenience of the Government due to unit<br />

deactivation, relocation, or redesignation, they must have the<br />

following paragraph typed in the remarks block of the DD Form 214<br />

and on page 11 of the SRB.<br />

"I understand by accepting this discharge from the<br />

U.S. Marine Corps Reserve I voluntarily give up my entitlement to<br />

transition assistance benefits, Reserve Montgomery G.I. Bill, and<br />

any enlistment incentives that were offered to me upon my initial<br />

enlistment as reflected in my Reserve Optional Enlistment Program<br />

statement of understanding. I also understand that if, at a<br />

later date I chose to reenter the Marine Corps, I will fully<br />

repeat any incomplete portions of the three stages of entry-level<br />

training: Recruit Training, MCT, and MOS training. However, any<br />

prior active duty service is creditable for pay and allowances.<br />

(3) SMCR Non-Mandatory Participants that are at SMCR<br />

units will coordinate with the Commanding Officers of SMCR Units<br />

within reasonable commuting distance to find and be offered an<br />

SMCR billet of the same grade. Marines offered an SMCR billet of<br />

the same grade within a reasonable commuting distance will sign<br />

the following page 11 entry in the service records:<br />

"I am aware I am not eligible for Reserve transition<br />

benefits under Public Law 102-484 of 23 Oct 92 because I have<br />

been offered another SMCR billet of the same grade within a<br />

reasonable commuting distance. Signature of Marine."<br />

(4) SMCR who<br />

are eligible for MGIB-SR and transferred to the IRR, who are not<br />

qualified for Reserve Transition Benefits because they have less<br />

than 12 months of SMCR participation sign the following page 11<br />

entry:<br />
