In Jove's dominions, ruler <strong>of</strong> the sky;<br />

Great portion <strong>of</strong> the Stars and lunar light,<br />

And <strong>of</strong> the Sun, with dazzling lustre briglit;<br />

All-taming pow'r, ethereal shining fire,<br />

Whose vivid blasts the heat <strong>of</strong> life inspire;<br />

<strong>The</strong> world's best element, light-bearing pow'r,<br />

With starry radiance shining, splendid flow'r ;<br />

0 hear my suppliant pray'r, and may thy frame<br />

Be ever innocent, serene, and tame.<br />

but is also said by Proclus, in Tim. p. 292, to be Orphical,<br />

For in enumerating the Orphic traditions concerning Phanes,<br />

Night, Heaven, Saturn, Jupiter, and Bacchus, he observes,<br />
