It remains a challenge to keep apace of the increasing costs of access to electronic databases, but
wise stewarding of scarce resources by the library staff has enabled the College to meet student
needs effectively. As an example, the library staff identified considerable duplication of journal
titles which were available both electronically and in-print; working closely with program
faculty, the library staff did not renew subscriptions to select print journals where duplication
existed.
--Center for Experiential Learning
In support of the mission emphasis on experiential learning, the Center for Experiential Learning
(CEL) was established in Fall 2005 to coordinate all things experiential at Keuka College,
including the Field Period program, TeamWorks! Challenge Experience (Ropes Course), Co-
Curricular Transcripts, Community Service Resource Center, Student Employment, and Career
Services.
The Center for Experiential Learning serves the Keuka College Community by promoting the
development of life-long learning and career skills students use to transform experience into
knowledge. The goal of the Center for Experiential Learning is to facilitate the development of
graduates who are life-long learners able to apply theory, learning and skills in a continually
changing world for personal and career satisfaction and for a better community.
Staff members in the Center for Experiential Learning participate in New Student Orientation
(NSO) for the traditional program, meeting with students and parents to provide an overview of
the CEL office, resume workshops, and the Teamworks! experience. Additionally, staff members
work closely with on-campus and ASAP students to ensure successful Field Period experiences,
by helping students to complete and submit accurate Field Period paperwork. Staff members
follow up with site supervisors, and conduct assessment of student learning outcomes as
identified in the supervisor’s evaluations.
--Career Services
Career Services assists students and alumni with career development by providing support and
guidance to help promote personal and professional success. Available services are as follows:
interest/value/skill assessments, resume and cover letter critiques, mock interviews, job search
assistance, graduate school application assistance, and general career counseling. The Center for
Experiential Learning maintains an up-to-date career library that contains job search guides,
occupational information, employer/school district directories, corporate literature, and
graduate/professional school information. The Career Services Office provides additional selfhelp
materials to guide students as they navigate post-graduate options at its webpage

Career Services is linked in various ways to all of our programs. Career development is built into
the curriculum for both our China and Vietnam programs through a Career Management class
and Introduction to Experiential Learning. Keuka students from day one of the program begin to
understand the importance of connecting theory and practice. ASAP offers a one credit lifeskills
course, and Career Services staff also attend ASAP orientation sessions for new students so
