Although her actions in this event were criticised both during<br />
and after her own life, certain benefits did not come <strong>of</strong> them, such as,<br />
the aim to avoid conflict among Muslims. It appears that these wars<br />
were later regretted by both factions.<br />
Alisha died in the year 58 on 17 <strong>of</strong> Ramadan. 1 Her life story<br />
both during and after the time <strong>of</strong> the Prophet has established her a<br />
a symbol or a model for Muslim women since she combined the virtues<br />
<strong>of</strong> a wife with competence in many other aspects <strong>of</strong> life which would<br />
have been scarcely possible in pre-Islamic times. Through her<br />
teaching she influenced the entire community, men as well as<br />
women.<br />
FATIMAH AL ZAHRA<br />
Fatimah is here principally discussed as an example <strong>of</strong> the<br />

woman in her role as a daughter. The fourth and youngest daughter<br />
<strong>of</strong> Muhammad and Khadija, she was born five years before the mission<br />
<strong>of</strong> the Prophet. When the revelations occurred, her life took a<br />
dramatic turn away from carefree childhood to an awareness <strong>of</strong> the<br />
responsibility her father now shouldered as the Messenger to Mankind.<br />
Frequent exposure to scenes <strong>of</strong> opposition towards her father during<br />
her formative years fostered life-long devotion to him. "Often she<br />
would be at his side, walking through the narrow streets and alleys<br />
<strong>of</strong> Makkah. visiting the Kalabah or attending secret gatherings <strong>of</strong> the<br />

early Muslims who had accepted Islam and pledged allegiance to the<br />
Prophet. "<br />

On one occasion, a group <strong>of</strong> Quraysh gathered about him while he was<br />
at prayer in the Masjid Haram, with Fiaotimah beside him. She witnessed<br />
