(토요일 on its own means ‘Saturday’, so the 날 (day) is completely<br />

r<strong>ed</strong>undant. However, the two are often us<strong>ed</strong> together in colloquial<br />

speech. If you want<strong>ed</strong> to specify that something happen<strong>ed</strong> in the<br />

daytime, as in the colloquial English, “on Saturday day”, then you<br />

would say “토요일 낮에” because the word “날” does not have the<br />

connotation of daytime that the English word day does. 토요일날 is<br />

pronounc<strong>ed</strong> “to-yo-il-lal”.)
