As seen in (3), Koreans often use 우리 (our) when they mean 내 (my). This
reflects the importance of the group in Korean culture. A Korean will refer to
his or her parents, school and company as 우리 부모님, 우리 학교 and 우리
회사 respectively. A man may even refer to his wife as 우리 집 사람 (lit. our
house person). However, if you were talking about something which is yours
personally and not the group’s (other than your spouse!), you would use 내 or
제, as in examples (1) and (2).
