Case: Doug, age 32, lost sense of balance. Doug, a world-class mountain climber, has climbed in Tibet, South America, Alaska, and in the United States. Doug came to me on a referral from Dr. Stone because he lost his sense of balance, which ended his mountain climbing career. I removed all of his metal fillings, replacing them with a non-metal filling material and his balance returned. Doug continued climbing with his friends. Case: Leona, age 65, cough of 20 years duration. Leona coughed for twenty years, sometimes so severely, she felt like she would pass out. Examinations by three Ear, Nose and Throat specialists could not find any reason for this symptom. I checked her one mercury filling with the Oral Potential Meter II, which recorded a very high electrical reading. Her lower metal partial added to her persistent cough, an electrical-related problem. I removed the mercury silver amalgam filling, replacing it with a compatible composite. I asked Leona to leave her metal partial out of her mouth and, by the very next day, the cough was gone. Removal of metals in her mouth stopped her persistent cough. Case: Linda, age 28, collapsed on the floor. Linda came to me in 1992 for a dental evaluation. Before Linda‟s problem arose, she had placed first or second in the cross country skiing event, part of the Badger Games held in Wisconsin every winter. One day Linda fell to the floor. She made her way to the phone and called for help. Years of tests and exams failed to provide a reason for her collapse. Linda researched the library looking for answers, but none were found to help her condition. One day her mother called and asked if she had considered her teeth as a cause of her problem. Linda to my office where a full mouth x-ray showed a number of fillings and a root canal in the lower left second bicuspid, along with a mercury amalgam filling in the bone at the gum line. All metal fillings had to be replaced along with the extraction of the root canal. I also removed the mercury filling in her jaw on the backside of the root canal. Removing the metals helped her feel better; however the turning point was the removal of the root canal, which allowed Linda to regain her former level of health. 97
