ecause these important nutrients get used up in the neverending
fight to protect the body against mercury‟s attacks, and
by supplementing with the needed minerals and vitamins early
on, prior to amalgam removal, the patient will feel better, and
experience a safer amalgam removal and more successful
detoxification. Also, when the body has plenty of essential
minerals, it is more willing to let go of toxic elements.
Sea salt, which contains a broad range of essential minerals,
is important to use, rather than table salt (sodium chloride)
which is best avoided. One fourth teaspoon of sea salt should be
added to each quart of water that is drunk, in order to have
proper hydration from the water. The kidneys are helped by
drinking plenty of water every day.
Liver function can be assisted in a number of ways. An
excellent supplement is silymarin, which is naturally derived
from the milk thistle seed. The liver is an important digestive
organ, since it secretes bile, which is needed to emulsify and
help digest fats. The liver stores bile in the gall bladder and,
when fats come down into the small intestines for digestion, the
gall bladder squeezes out the bile that is needed for digestion.
But if the person is detoxifying, something else is coming along
in the bile: mercury or other toxic metals. They are being
dumped into the intestines to be carrying into the bowel and
eliminated in a bowel movement. The liver has cleaned the
mercury and other heavy metals out of the blood that it filters.
So, to allow the body to get rid of the toxins that have been sent
by the liver into the bile, the body needs a reasonably good
bowel function.
“Transit time” is the time that food takes to pass through the
GI tract and exit the body at the other end. For detox
supplements to work effectively, the transit time should be
under twenty hours. Slow transit time and constipation are
often a problem for the toxic patient, because mercury, fluoride
and other toxins tend to cause low thyroid function
(“hypothyroidism”). This low thyroid function tends produce
fatigue, low energy, inactivity and a sluggish bowel. The patient
