vary in price, but some of the simpler methods, such as skin
brushing, are very affordable and should be performed daily.
Most patients choose one aggressive oral supplement to
complement a well chosen diet, and use several different skin
methods, alternating them from day to day.
Supplements
There are dozens of oral supplements for the more aggressive
detox. Ads for these detox products can be found in the DAMS
newsletter and in most natural health magazines. Every year
new oral supplements are placed on the market, adding to the
rapidly-growing industry of detoxification products.
The most notable entry into the detox market, introduced in
the summer of 2008 is OSR, (Oxidative Stress Relief). Its
developer, Dr. Boyd Haley, is widely admired because he has
tirelessly spoken out on the health hazards of mercury and the
need to ban it in dentistry and medicine. OSR is classified as a
food supplement and not a drug; it makes no claims to treat,
prevent or cure any disease or illness. But it is an excellent antioxidant
that has been shown to boost the body‟s level of
glutathione, an important natural detoxifier of mercury and other
toxic metals, and is able to scavenge dangerous free radicals,
such as the hydroxyl radical.
Prior to its being marketed, OSR was extensively tested on
animals and was found to be very safe and non-toxic. Unlike
drugs such as DMPS or DMSA, OSR does not deplete the body of
zinc or other essential trace minerals. Use in humans has also
shown that OSR is safe and beneficial. OSR is currently being
marketed to physicians and other health care professionals, but
not directly to the consumer. Healthcare professionals may
order OSR by e-mailing the company CTI Science at
behaley@ctiscience.com. Will OSR become a new leader in the
field of detox supplements? It is still very new and more time is
needed to allow us to evaluate its clinical value.
