Introduction
DAMS is the major education and support group in America
for dental patients seeking to avoid the harm that dentistry can
do to health. Most of our callers are seeking to recover from the
harm that dental mercury fillings have done. DAMS is a nonprofit
organization and does not endorse specific products or
practitioners, but we do provide lists of dental professionals who
subscribe to our way of thinking. They are DAMS professional
members. Dr. Douglas Cook, D.D.S., of Wisconsin, is one such
professional member of DAMS. He is among the best known and
most popular biological dentists in the Midwest, and his patients
come to him from far and wide.
Over a decade ago, I first began to hear of Dr. Cook because
numerous patients in my state, Minnesota, had gone to him for
safe amalgam removal and for the safe, carefully chosen dental
materials that he would use to replace the mercury fillings.
Later, I learned the key to his success: his use of computerized
electro-dermal screening (CEDS) to probe the patient‟s body, to
discover what the dental problems are, and where they are, and
to choose the most compatible replacement materials. In this
book, Dr. Cook seeks to share the secrets of his success – CEDS,
low-speed drilling, and more – with any dentist who wants to
learn them. I welcome this book, as I welcome the use of
electro-dermal screening in dentistry. For all too many patients,
including the sickest ones, such as those suffering from chronic
fatigue syndrome and several chemical sensitivities, the usual
blood serum tests for bio-compatibility are simply not valid. The
CEDS method, used by Dr. Cook, has in my opinion, much more
validity. I hope that the methods and the insights of Dr. Cook
become widespread. The interested layperson will also benefit
from this book and find it very informative.
