Case: Margo, age 35, pulp stone.
A pulp stone is calcification inside the pulp chamber of the tooth;
it slowly strangles the nerve and blood supply. Pulp stones are
unusual; however we must consider them as a cause of
pathology in the tooth.
Margo‟s case started with an infected root canal on the upper
second bicuspid. This second bicuspid was extracted and a
bridge was bonded to the first bicuspid and first molar to replace
this tooth. Within a year the first molar died from the pulp stone
cutting off its blood supply. In the x-ray on the right, see the
large pulp stones in both the first and the second molar. The
picture on the left shows the pulp stone in the extracted 1 st
molar.
the best position to help patients with health problems related to
the oral cavity. Dentists will be first care providers in the near
future. With their understanding of the Teeth and Body chart,
