amount of bone to remove the inside root. When it was taken
out, there, on the tip of the root, was a small abscess. It was
clear that the infected tooth had been the cause of my painful
elbow.
Yet, I wonder why this tooth went bad and caused a systemic
health issue that almost forced me to give up dentistry? The
answer was found when I broke the tooth open looking for a clue
to the cause of the death of my tooth. I broke the tooth in half,
but luck was really with me; the break was exactly where the
crown and root came together. I had expected to see two open
root canals; but one canal was open and the other root canal
was calcified shut. Blood, nerve and lymph supply were all cut
off, allowing an abscess to form at the end of this root.
The body does not like dead tissue and tries to get rid of it at
any cost. My elbow pain directed me to the cause by following
the large intestine meridian. Remember, the large intestine
meridian passes through the elbow and through this infected
tooth #5. Within ten minutes after my tooth removal I knew the
elbow was on its way to feeling better and the pain was
dramatically reduced. Complete recovery took three full months.
This case points out why all health professionals need to have a
working knowledge of the oral cavity and the meridians
associated with the different teeth and organs. It also confirms
Dr. Voll‟s principle that the oral cavity plays an important role in
total health.
