Method number two: An upper and/or lower partial. First, an
impression is made of the upper and/or lower remaining teeth
and the impressions are sent to the lab, Cook Dental Lab (920-
842-2083) where an all plastic partial is constructed to replace
the missing teeth. These partials are made with cadmium free
plastic. Cadmium is often used in partial or full dentures to give
the plastic portion of them a pink tint, a gum-like color. But
cadmium is a toxic material that should be avoided.
An important consideration for partials is how the natural
teeth come together. Is there enough room for the partial, and
are the remaining teeth healthy enough to hold one? With this
information the dentist can make an intelligent decision to help
the patient restore good chewing function.
An upper and lower partial and
a bite splint made from cadmium
free material.
A removable partial makes it
easier to clean both the false teeth
and your natural teeth after eating.
Flossing your teeth requires being extremely fussy. Using a
mirror six inches away from your mouth you will see the plaque
being removed by the floss. Floss only the teeth you want to
keep! Just before bedtime is the best time to brush, floss and
flush (irrigate). See Appendix A in the back of the book for a list
of water irrigating devices.
Dental materials used to restore or replace missing teeth need
to be tested with CEDS for compatibility. Compatible dentistry
