Metals Are Compatible
Do you have gold fillings? Dental gold is not pure gold; pure
gold would be too soft for a filling. Gold must be durable enough
to withstand chewing and support bridge work; therefore gold
alloys (combinations of gold with more than one metal) are used
to increase strength. As with silver amalgams, gold alloys can
affect the nervous system. According to Boericke’s Materia
Medica, gold can cause depression and other physical and
mental problems. Dental gold is an excellent restorative
material with respect to durability, but is not the best choice of
material from a health standpoint. Finding a compatible metal
for fillings has proven to be impossible, if good health is to be a
consideration. Metal fillings are a prime cause of a variety of
health problems. In addition, not all patients will have the same
health symptoms from the same dental filling material.
Case: Dr. Dave, D.D.S., age 55, migraines
Dr. Dave heard my presentation on dental materials at Dr.
Simon Yu, M.D.‟s seminar in St. Louis, Missouri. Dave arrived at
my office, after a long nine-hour trip, with a splitting migraine
headache. I put him to bed with an ice pack, hoping to give him
some relief. After he had an hour of restless sleep I gave him an
oral exam and a treatment plan. Using CEDS, we found all
conductance points (acupuncture points) registered above fifty
