In addition, the health plan is required <strong>to</strong> allow enrollees in active treatment <strong>to</strong> continue care<br />

with a terminated treating provider when such care is medically necessary, through completion<br />

of treatment of a condition <strong>for</strong> which the enrollee was receiving care at the time of the<br />

termination, until the enrollee selects another treating provider, <strong>for</strong> a period not <strong>to</strong> exceed six<br />

months after the termination of the provider's contract. For pregnant enrollees who have<br />

initiated a course of prenatal care, regardless of the trimester in which care was initiated, the<br />

health plan must allow the enrollee <strong>to</strong> continue care with a terminated treating provider until<br />

completion of postpartum care.<br />
