2.6 Measuring with the 3D Touch Probe System<br />

With the 3D touch probe system you can determine<br />

• Position coordinates, and <strong>from</strong> them,<br />

• dimensions and angles on the workpiece.<br />

Finding the coordinate of a position on an aligned workpiece<br />

Select the SURFACE = DATUM probe function.<br />

Move the probe to a starting position near the touch point.<br />

Select the direction and axis in which you wish to find the coordinate.<br />

Probe the workpiece.<br />

The <strong>TNC</strong> displays the coordinates of the touch point as DATUM.<br />

Finding the coordinates of a corner in the working plane<br />

Find the coordinates of the corner point as described under “Corner as<br />

datum.” The <strong>TNC</strong> displays the coordinates of the probed corner as<br />

DATUM.<br />
